Spending the holidays behind bars is not something wished on anyone. However, it happens, and people get arrested and locked up, regardless of what time of the year it is. Colorado Springs police arrested three individuals in the early morning hours of a recent Thursday after what they say was a crime spree earlier that morning.

Law enforcement agents allege that all three were involved in armed robberies at three separate 7-Eleven stores. Reportedly, the clerk at the first store heard the sound of the door chime shortly after 3 a.m., and he came into the main area of the store from where he was cleaning the bathroom. Police say that two masked men confronted him and demanded cash. The clerk claims that one man carried a firearm.

After that, police allege the same individuals then robbed two more stores within the next 40 minutes. The descriptions given by those clerks were similar to that offered by the first clerk. Under undisclosed circumstances, police arrested three individuals at approximately 5 a.m. They accused the two men of robbing the stores, and the third individual — a woman — is said to have been the getaway driver. Further investigations are underway to determine whether these individuals were possibly involved in any other robberies.

Anyone in Colorado who faces criminal charges will likely realize the importance of retaining the services of an experienced criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. A lawyer can examine the formal charges and scrutinize the evidence held by the prosecution in preparation for the upcoming court proceedings. He or she can then devise a defense strategy that seeks to achieve the most favorable outcome for the defendant, whether it be by dismissal of the charges, a negotiated plea agreement or a jury trial.
