The Fisher-Price Soothe and Glow Seahorse toy is the subject of numerous negative reviews and complaints from parents who say the product is a liability.
According to 7 News, the toy is the seventh best-selling toddler toy on Amazon.com but is also under scrutiny. The negative Amazon reviews date back to 2012 and involve numerous complaints about the faulty battery compartment. “I put new batteries in, and without even turning the toy back on a coil behind one of the batteries started glowing and my kitchen was filled with smoke,” said Amazon reviewer John Ambrogi.
Fisher-Price has refused to issue a recall, the ABC news report said, and has also refused to acknowledge any modifications to the toy; however, consumers want the toy recalled.
