One might say the woman who was seriously injured in a recent accident in Colorado was a “temporary” pedestrian. Moments earlier, she had been traveling by motor vehicle but stopped her car and was walking across the road to assist other motorists who had just been involved in a terrible crash. Auto-pedestrian accidents like this one typically have devastating outcomes.

This particular incident unfolded on a recent Thursday night. It was just after 9 p.m. when a car spun out of control on an icy road, ending up in an opposing lane of traffic. A head-on collision between that car and another vehicle resulted.

A woman who was riding past the scene and saw the crash stopped her car and got out to see if she could render aid to the victims. As she crossed the road, she herself suffered serious injuries when a car hit her. Police say another vehicle also veered off the icy road and smashed into the woman’s parked car.

The woman was listed in serious condition and had to undergo several surgeries. Auto-pedestrian accidents in Colorado often result in very serious injuries or death. Recovering victims may seek guidance from personal injury attorneys, especially when they are considering filing claims against those deemed responsible. Medical treatment necessary for recovery is usually expensive, and compensation awarded in successfully litigated claims can help offset such costs. In situations where a death has occurred, an immediate family member may pursue justice on behalf of a deceased accident victim.
