Colorado DUI Arrests Down but Still too Many
Colorado Department of Transportation started enforcing its “Heat is On” campaign between August 16 and September 3 during the Labor Day weekends and made over 1,000 Colorado DUI or impaired driving arrests.
Reported by Denver Westword, these numbers are staggering and clearly show how big of a problem Colorado has with drinking and driving. Worse yet there were reportedly nine alcohol-related fatalities that occurred during the same time frame. Nine people have lost their lives because of drinking and driving and not designating a sober driver.
1,342 people were arrested for impaired driving just in a span of a few weeks. This number is lower from previous years but is still nowhere near a positive sign. There are too many people getting hurt from others making poor decisions after drinking.
