Colorado residents in the Pilgrim Downs community were ordered by deputies to stay indoors on a recent Wednesday evening. This followed the discovery of a dead body while law enforcement responded to a call about a suspected home invasion. An incident report indicates that police received a call about a possible break-in at approximately 10:30 p.m. Upon checking the residence for burglars, deputies came across the victim’s lifeless body, and the possibility of further violent crimes caused the call for the residents to remain inside their homes.
The area was cordoned off, and a search ensued by various law enforcement agencies. The Eagle River Fire Protection District that assisted by providing lights and boom trucks. Deputies say the presence of a tracking dog and officers closing in might have convinced the suspects to give up. Two people from Denver were arrested, a 23-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman. Authorities say they were detained in the Eagle County Jail.
Along with the various agencies that were involved in the search, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation played a role. The Eagle County Sheriff reported that the investigators spent the following day at the crime scene, and the investigation into the homeowner’s death is ongoing. Details about the charges filed against the two suspects were not reported.
