The family members of a 19-year-old Colorado man who is battling for his life after suffering traumatic brain injuries in a crash. Motorcycle accidents such as this one typically leave riders with catastrophic injuries, even those who wear helmets and protective gear. The young man suffered severe injuries on a recent Friday.

The accident occurred close to the man’s home as he was returning from a scenic ride. A witness saw a car turning directly into the biker’s path at an intersection, without yielding, leaving the motorcyclist without no chance to avoid a collision. Reportedly, the car driver fled the accident scene, though he returned later.

That driver, a 41-year-old man, was arrested and charged with failure to yield to the biker. Further charges include driving while impaired, driving without insurance and vehicular assault. The family of the injured motorcyclist say they believe his helmet saved his life although he still suffered critical injuries. He already underwent one surgical procedure, but they expect more to follow.

Bikers are typically worse off after motorcycle accidents that involve other vehicles due to the lack of protection these two-wheeled vehicles provide, and dealing with the financial consequences could be overwhelming. When the evidence suggests negligence on the part of another party to the accident, victims are entitled to pursue recovery of damages through the Colorado civil justice system. Other crash victims in similar situations usually utilize the services of an experienced personal injury attorney to provide the necessary guidance in pursuit of financial relief for economic and noneconomic damages.
