Criminal law: Colorado driver faces 11 charges after police chase

On Behalf of | May 15, 2018 | Criminal Law

A Colorado woman was detained in the Douglas County Detention Center after her arrest on a recent Saturday evening. She is accused of committing a host of criminal law violations, one of which is leading police on a chase in a stolen car. Police say the chase came to an end with a crash that involved the stolen vehicle and at least three other vehicles and saw four people transported to a hospital.

Reportedly the arrest took place after the multi-vehicle crash that left one vehicle on its roof; another smashed into a pole and a third vehicle was severely damaged. It is alleged that the 37-year-old woman attempted to evade police while driving a stolen car without plates, on a revoked license and under the influence of drugs or alcohol. She also allegedly failed to turn on the car’s headlights.

Along with these charges, police filed charges against her for disregarding red lights, possession of tools used for burglary, criminal mischief and second-degree assault with a deadly weapon — relating to the injuries suffered by the four people who were hospitalized. She is being held on $50,000 bond. Reportedly, cleaning up the crash scene involved eight South Metro Fire units.

Anyone in Colorado who is facing criminal charges can choose to retain the services of an experienced criminal law attorney to handle the defense on his or her behalf. A lawyer can examine the charges and the available evidence to determine whether an independent investigation is required. The best possible outcome under the circumstances will be sought.
