Facing drug charges? You need experience on your side.

Criminal charges involving illegal substances usually have severe consequences for convictions. Some of the most common charges related to drug crimes are for the possession of an illegal substance and the possession of drug paraphernalia. In many instances, these drug charges are filed together, putting Colorado defendants in difficult positions.

Drug paraphernalia is considered to be needles, pipes or other accessories that can be used during the consumption of illegal narcotics. Despite common perceptions, this type of charge is not only filed when a defendant is suspected of possessing such devices. Defendants can also be charged if they are believed to be involved with manufacturing, transporting or selling paraphernalia.

In general, a charge related to drug paraphernalia is not quite as serious as being accused of possessing or trafficking an illegal substance. However, this does not mean that these types of allegations are nothing to cause concern. A conviction can net upward of $1,000 in fines and a year behind bars. Alone, these consequences can be serious enough, and they can have an even larger impact on a person's life when he or she is also facing additional drug-related charges.

Whether facing drug charges or allegations for other criminal matters, many Colorado defendants share concerns about the same thing -- their futures. Fines, jail time and criminal records can have profound impacts on a person's ability to find gainful employment or take advantage of educational opportunities in the future. Even seemingly minor charges -- such as those for drug paraphernalia -- can pose a threat to future stability. We understand how overwhelming facing these charges can be, and we remain committed to our clients throughout the entirety of their criminal proceedings.
