Connecticut Festival Swing Ride Fails - How Personal Injury Type Cases are Handled

Connecticut Festival Swing Ride Fails - At Norwalk's Oyster Festival in Connecticut, a swing ride failed and injured 12 swinging children and one adult during a Connecticut Fair event on Sunday.

In what's being called a mechanical failure, the amusement ride, called "Zumur" stopped functioning and caused the riders to collide with one another potentially causing serious injuries.

Fortunately there were no fatalities and no one was flung from their seats. In a Fox News report, 13 people were transported to hospitals nearby. One person was admitted with non-life threatening injuries while the remaining 12 were treated and released.

Norwalk Seaport Association is a nonprofit and the festival's organizer. NSA directed the operators to shut down the entire area around the ride until inspectors could perform an inspection. Because no other rides were affected, they were reopened and the fair continued as planned.

This is a great example of why businesses must have liability insurance. Had someone been seriously hurt or killed, the damages would have been astronomical. Fortunately no one was seriously injured, therefore medical bills will not be a large issue.

In cases where serious personal or bodily injuries occur, victims need to know that there is someone there who will help them recover the damages they need to survive and pay for their household expenses and medical bills.
